GoogleTalk for iPhone

Ah… looks like the Googlers have brought IM to the iPhone through a webapp!

Look here for new information on Google Talk for iPhone. Or, simply point your iPhone to their URL.

It seems other goodies are in store for all iPhone owners (old and new) on July 11 when the 2.0 software is released, and new Apps will be available for sale.

The more i think about it, the more i like the idea of an iphone. I have one problem with them: I’d have to swap to AT&T to get the service. The coverage is spotty in my part of the world. Any hope of them opening it up to other providers?

Apple has a 2 year exclusive deal with AT&T. So no, no other carriers.

After that year, they’ll be open to negotiate, but I am not sure what will happen.

Despite the service being lackluster, which I agree it is, I still love the iPhone. I use it a lot on Wifi, and in Atlanta, it worked everywhere, 5 bars. Why the service stinks here is beyond me.
