I think that's great. I don't care if she's using the 'latest and the greatest' (although one could argue that the information literacy landscape has changed dramatically in just the past 3 years or so with the rise of the Social Web). I just wish she was using tools from, say, 2005 instead of 1998. Plus there's absolutely no excuse for her Resources section...

I did a little research on Dr. Baker. It turns out, she's "at the forefront of classroom evolution." She's preparing teachers to prepare students for literacy in the world c. 2010, not 1995.

John, this is a better commentary on that article than my original post. Thanks for writing this. I hope that you'll go put a link to it over on my blog so that others come here and see it too.

Sorry that you found my earlier 'negativity discouraging.' I try to take a critical perspective regarding current leadership practices without being scornful of the wonderful people that work in schools. If you're so inclined, I'd love an e-mail from you sometime telling me more about that earlier incident (mcleod@iastate.edu). I'm always looking to grow and improve as a writer/blogger.

Keep up the great work. I know that many of us appreciate all that you do. Hope that we get a chance to meet at NECC.
