Being Heard - Blogs and Podcasts
Why is blogging important? Because it communicates with the world what you are up to. Case in point–at one of our elementary schools, students and the media specialist dressed up one day as characters in a book they read. The photos were posted to the weblog.
Couple weeks later, the author writes the media specialist, who hosts the blog, and told her how cute the students were dressed up as her characters–and wanted to use the pictures. That’s right, the author came out of the blue and approached us because what we had communicated. Cool. Kids will be tickled!
Meanwhile, darkness came across Richmond, and one of our staff members was buying items at a Linens and Things. She sees a man pacing in the parking lot, talking “business” on his cell phone. “We need to do something with podcasts…” When she came out of the building, the man was still on the phone, and told the person on the other end: “And I’ll tell you where you can start your research… there’s those schools in Goochland County… they’re doing podcasts–big time–contact them and find out what it is, how they do it, and what their benefits are…”
Pretty cool to be recognized as a leader, eh? Business following education? Now that’s new!
