Tonight I went to VSTE Island and sat in on a presentation by Discovery Education’s Kathy Schrock. She’s talking about her use of SL for professional development and some of her philosophy of blocking sites for her district.
Interesting, she noted that her district isn’t “the Pentagon,” and the only two things that have to be locked down totally include the district’s financial data and student records. “Everything else is possible if it’s for learning and will lead towards student achievement.”
Thanks again go to VSTE for their island and support of this event!

Thank you, John, for coming to VSTE’s meetings and letting people know what happens here. Kathy was great and it was wonderful for her to take time out to be with us.

Dear John,
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for coming.
(Just a note that the Discovery Education affiliation is my “second” job. I am first and foremost a school district technology administrator!)
