A lot of planning goes into providing professional development sessions. You may disagree, but I feel that the variety and quality of what we have offered over the years is first-in-class, especially when I talk to educators in other school divisions throughout Virginia.
I see a trend developing here, and I wanted to take a few words to ask for your cooperation. I often have to search for instructors or commit to time myself to teach these classes. We are changing our after school schedules to make these classes work.
When you sign-up on our wiki, we count that as a commitment. I use this intent of commitment to decide if the class will “make” or not days ahead of time.
If you have to cancel from this commitment, please remove your name from the class list on the wiki as soon as possible. Letting us know the day of the class or just not showing up to the class impacts those who do want to participate. It means fewer classes can be offered and served. It also impacts the quality of the class.
We know emergencies can arise. I ask that you plan ahead, consider these classes on your calendars, and if a conflict arises, please remove your name, or reschedule to another time as soon as you can.
